Video game business Electronic Arts (EA) UK has started refurbishing the on-site gym provided for its 2,000 employees, as part of a partnership with corporate fitness and wellbeing services provider Energy Fitness Professionals (EFP).

The refurbishment was started as part of EA’s wellbeing offering, which aims to provide staff with access to cutting-edge gym equipment and facilities for free as part of their benefits package. It has included redecorating the gym space and changing rooms at EA’s UK office, which feature valuables lockers that are controlled using staff security passes. The gym equipment was provided by Precor and included a range of fixed stationary equipment and free weights and HIIT zones.

The main gym and changing rooms were opened to staff in July, and the second phase of the refurbishment, which includes the redecoration of the studio and a full refurbishment with Escape Fitness Studio equipment, is due for completion in September. The studio will provide a range of classes from spinning and yoga to Boxercise.

The refurbishment also included the launch of a digital platform service, which enables employees to view live gym information, communicate through a digital chat forum, make bookings, follow online workouts and programmes, and participate in live-streamed exercise classes.

Rob Radford, chief operating officer at EFP, said: “EA Games is a pioneer and global leader in digital interactive entertainment that values its employees’ wellbeing and creates amazing workspaces for its staff to be innovative and creative.”
