Arriva London, Costco and Sainsbury’s were among the organisations recognised for best practice around payroll giving schemes at the National Payroll Giving Excellence Awards 2016 on Wednesday 16 November 2016.
The awards are designed to reward innovation and promotional excellence, and recognise an organisation’s sustained effort to grow payroll giving schemes.
Payroll giving enables employees to donate money to the charity of their choice on a tax-free basis, direct from their salary.
Mediterranean Shipping Company won the best overall campaign award, and Sainsbury's received the best promotional campaign award and best sustained campaign award in the large employer categories. Other winning organisations include Cancer Research UK, Checkatrade, and HM Revenue and Customs.

Through their commitment, generosity and skill, these organisations and individuals are helping our charities to continue their vital work. I hope others will be inspired and follow their great example, helping us to create a Britain that works for everyone.”
Adam Bryan, director of partnerships at The Institute of Fundraising, added: “Payroll giving is a really important source of funding for charities raising over £120 million every year for the causes people support. People donating through payroll giving do so on a regular monthly basis giving charities the long-term support and suitability they need to plan for the future."
