Test and inspection certification firm Bureau Veritas has scooped its own accreditation – as a top UK employer by the Top Employers Institute.
The award sees Bureau Veritas take the accolade for the ninth year running, and according to its HR director, Katie White, it recognises the work the business has recently done to support the mental health and wellbeing of its staff over the past year.
Not only has Bureau Veritas launched an employee voice survey to understand more about what employees wanted from working there, it has also introduced a suite of new manager/employee communications and an employee forum.
Other benefits offered include private medical insurance and enhanced pension contributions that sees the business double contributions up to 8%, as well as life assurance. Qualifying employees can also receive private dental cover, travel insurance, gym membership and discounts on a range of retail and leisure brands.
White said: “I am particularly pleased Bureau Veritas has been recognised as one of the UK’s top employers, and for the ninth year in a row." She added: "This past year has been particularly difficult for all businesses but at Bureau Veritas we continually focus on our people and strive to make this a great place to work.”
Certification for the annual list sees participating employers benchmarked according to rigorous analysis of their HR practices, and across the themes of Steer, Shape, Attract, Develop, Engage and Unite.
Phil Sproston, regional manager (UK and Ireland), Top Employers Institute, said: “A Top Employer needs to demonstrate they are keep putting people first and are pro-active in providing the best working environments possible in the current circumstances.” He added: "In our current context that means ensuring there’s flexibility, understanding and creative thinking behind the provision of support.”
The full Top Employer list comprises 84 UK and 14 Irish companies, and will formerly be announced on 28 January.
Other employers making the list include Bentley Motors, DHL International, Harrods, IG, Olympus, Pfizer UK and Travis Perkins Plc.
