Brewers Decorator Centres has introduced new and enhanced family leave policies designed to better support its employees at key moments in their lives.
The organisation has launched a new kinship care policy to support employees who step in to care for a child within their extended family when the parents are unable to do so. Leave and pay will align with its existing family provisions, with primary carers receiving adoption-equivalent pay and leave and secondary carers receiving paternity-equivalent pay and leave.
As it recognises the essential role kinship carers play in providing stability and continuity, Brewers wants to play its part in supporting an employee if they become a carer in these circumstances by offering meaningful support regarding this responsibility.
Brewers has also strengthened its maternity and adoption pay offering in order to provide greater financial support during the early stages of parenthood. Its enhanced pay will increase from six weeks at 100% pay and 20 weeks at 75% pay, to 12 weeks at 100% pay and 14 weeks at 75% pay. This will be followed by statutory maternity and adoption pay and unpaid leave for the remainder of the entitlement.
The enhanced structure will also apply to shared parental leave and kinship leave for eligible employees with at least one year of service at the time the child is due or placed.
In addition, paternity leave has been extended from four weeks to six weeks for employees with one year or more of service. Pay during this time will be two weeks at 100% pay, two weeks at 75% pay, and two weeks at 50% pay. The aim of this is to provide partners with greater flexibility and support during the early weeks of a new child.
The changes are intended to reflect the organisation’s ongoing commitment to creating a supportive and inclusive workplace for all.
A Brewers spokesperson said: “These updates mark a significant step forward in Brewers’ commitment to supporting employees and their families, ensuring they have the time, flexibility, and financial support they need during important life moments.”
