Employee Benefits poll: Almost a third (32.5%) of organisations did not give their staff a Christmas party or a bonus last year, according to an online survey among Employee Benefits readers.
Conversely, 22.2% of respondents hosted a festive party for their employees, and 20% gave their workforce a Christmas bonus.
Meanwhile, 32.5% awarded their staff with both a party and a bonus to celebrate the holiday season.
At the end of November 2022, Employee Benefits reported that 47% of businesses planned to provide staff with year-end bonuses for Christmas 2022.
According to The corporate Christmas rewards study by Just Eat for Business, which surveyed 200 decision-makers at UK organisations, 81% planned to host a party to mark the festive season and reward employees, whereas only 7% were certain they would not plan a party.
Almost half (48%) of those who were planning a party last year said it would be bigger and better than those thrown pre-pandemic. For those not planning a party, the biggest hurdle was budget (57%), but 14% said this was due to having a remote workforce.
With those planning on providing Christmas bonuses, the research highlighted that employers based the decision on sales targets (31%), profits (30%) and employees’ personal goals (29%).
