A family based at a private estate in Surrey have advertised for a live-in dog companion and estate assistant, with an annual salary of £60,000.

The successful candidate will be provided with a cottage on the estate, where they can live with their partner and their own pets. All bills will be included. The role is full-time, from 9am to 6pm Sunday to Thursday.

The role will include caring for the family dog, providing day-to-day care and companionship, feeding and grooming. The dog’s health and behaviour will need to be monitored and the daily diary, which includes routine, meals, walks and trips to the vets, groomers and trainers, will need updating.

The successful applicant may additionally need to run errands, do light organisational tasks and assist with general estate upkeep. They will need to act as a guardian of the property, receive deliveries and report anything that needs attention.

They may also need to reheat chef-prepared meals, prepare simple snacks and tidy the kitchen after use.

Requirements of the role include being “warm, calm and dependable”, having a passion for dogs and animals, and being comfortable living on-site. Other skills include being organised, discreet, trustworthy and respectful of the household.

Previous experience in private households, estate roles, dog care, nannying or live-in support roles would be helpful.

The job description stated: “This role is centred around providing a consistent presence on the property, supporting the wellbeing and daily routine of the family dog, and assisting the household team with light support tasks around the estate. The successful candidate will act as a guardian of the home, offering reassurance and attentive oversight of the property when principals are in residence or travelling. This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys a calm, structured environment and takes pride in maintaining a welcoming and well-run home.”

Sounds like a paw-some opportunity for dog lovers, and with some great perks too!
