Winner: BMW (UK)
Scheme: Stress Management Programme - Mental Health and Wellbeing Services
This award is designed to recognise employers that have made a concerted effort to tackle employee stress and mental health issues, such as depression, by putting measures in place to actively identify and support affected staff.
BMW (UK) launched an onsite face-to-face psychological support and wellbeing service as a direct result of employee feedback, coupled with a desire to raise awareness of a potentially sensitive issue.
The judges were impressed by the way BMW has embraced the importance of workplace resilience in tough economic times, and by its brave approach to tackling it.
The judges said: “This was a clear strategy for a serious issue that needs to be tackled everywhere across the country. BMW acknowledged a difficult problem for employees and tackled it. It listened to employees and implemented this strategy because it wanted to, not because it had to.”
The winner said: “The wellbeing of our employees is one of our most important focuses, at home or in the workplace.”
