Winner: BSkyB

Scheme: Choose iPads (Sky Choices)

This award recognises a plan that has successfully used staff-funded voluntary benefits or staff deals in an effective manner, either by maximising staff discounts or by using tax-efficient benefits offered via a salary sacrifice arrangement.

These benefits are available for employees to take up at any time throughout the year. The judges praised BSkyB for the impressive link between its salary sacrifice iPad benefit and its company brand strategy and corporate objectives. Following its success, other organisations have approached BSkyB about how to emulate the model.

The judges said: “This is a simple but targeted approach, which links back to BSkyB’s business strategy.”

The winner said: “We really believe in making employees advocates of our brand. Employees really loved [this].”
