Insurer and investment firm Royal London has introduced a home heating employee benefit scheme for its workforce.
The benefit, which is provided by Heat Scheme, can help employees to reduce their energy bills and carbon footprint. The employer can provide interest-free loans of between £2,000-£5,000, or a combination of a loan and a grant, to make the switch to clean energy more affordable for employees. The loans and grants can help with the cost of switching to clean energy options at home, which include green retrofits and the installation of heat pumps.
Staff will also have access to one-to-one consultations for heating efficiency and home improvement work.
Royal London joins other employers which have signed up with Heat Scheme, including advertising firms JCDecaux, Oliver Agency and Havas, British Film Institute, NHS Professionals, Clear Bank, asset management firms Schroders and QEQ, UK Power Networks, and Principality Building Society.
Kirsten Paterson, reward partner at Royal London, said: ”We know how important it is to take our people with us on our sustainability journey. By offering the Heat Scheme benefit, we’re supporting our staff to engage directly with our purpose outcomes of building financial resilience and playing our part in moving fairly to a sustainable world, by enabling them to save money, save energy and reduce emissions at home in a way that is tailored to their individual circumstances.”
