Poll: Two-thirds of respondents do not link pay and bonuses to social responsibility goals

Employee Benefits poll: Two-thirds of employers do not link pay and bonuses to social responsibility goals.

According to the latest Employee Benefits straw poll, 66.67% of www.employeebenefits.co.uk readers have no scheme under which employees are rewarded through pay rises or bonuses for meeting corporate responsibility targets.

However the other third of respondents (33.33%) said that while they have no such scheme, they do have plans in train to link pay and bonus schemes to social responsibility targets in the future, the poll revealed.

The poll follows news last month that technology giant Apple is to begin rewarding senior executives according to how well they meet environmental and social governance (ESG) goals.

The scheme will see executives’ cash bonuses modified and linked to ESG targets. Bonuses paid out could be impacted by as much as plus/minus 10%.

Among the Russell 1,000 group of companies, around 20% now have executive pay linked to ESG goals.
