Audio branding organisation PHMG has announced that it will be launching a mental health support app and online platform for its 400 global employees tomorrow (Thursday 7 February 2019) to align with Time to Talk Day.
The new app and platform, provided by Tootoot, aims to encourage conversations around mental health and wellbeing. It will allow employees to send confidential and anonymous messages about their work or home life to mentors within the organisation. Depending on the nature of the query, the mentors can either offer advice on the best course of action or signpost to external specialists who are able to provide relevant help.
Jason Daye (pictured), operations director at PHMG, said: “Research by [mental health charity] Mind shows that 43% of employees find their situation gets better when they disclose their mental health problem, highlighting the importance of talking to others about our problems.
“We want to ensure our staff members have a safe place to raise home or workplace issues, making it easier to take the critical first step towards getting the help they may need.”
The new benefit will be communicated to employees via emails and through the staff intranet. It will be offered as part of PHMG’s current programme, PH Perks, which features wellbeing benefits such as life insurance, financial consultations and pension plans.
Tootoot is being launched in conjunction with Time to Talk Day, an initiative supported by Mind. This aims to encourage individuals to engage in conversations about mental health. PHMG’s employees have also selected Mind as the chosen charity to benefit from its fundraising efforts in 2019.
Daye added: “Our employees are particularly passionate about mental health and wanted to help both charities continue to give everyone with a mental health issue the support they deserve. It’s only right our staff should have access to help they may need too.”
