Retail businesses Superdrug and Savers, owned by AS Watson Group, have updated their benefits packages, including introducing financial wellbeing app Wagestream to educate, support and provide flexible pay for employees across both brands.

AS Watson employs more than 140,000 people worldwide, more than 10,000 and 5,000 of whom work for UK brands Superdrug and Savers, respectively.

Both brands partnered with Wagestream in order to provide access to an app where staff can track their shifts and earnings in real time, get help with budgeting, put money aside as savings, and use its flexible pay feature.

The businesses have also committed to launching Digicare, an app hosted by Aviva, before summer 2023. This will give employees access to digital GP services, mental health and nutrition consultations, second medical opinions and an annual health check. The app also provides guidance and support to help detect, manage and prevent physical and mental health issues.

Superdrug and Savers have also agreed to build on existing staff discounts to further support staff with everyday living costs, including adding 40% off Superdrug products, plus 20% off branded products four times a year. This is in addition to the existing staff discounts for these products of 30% and 10%, respectively. Family and friends of employees also benefit from a 30% discount on own brand products four times a year.

Employees can also get 50% off Superdrug mobile sim plans, in addition to other discounts on items such as the weekly shop or days out, through the business' discount portal, as well as 30% off vaccines from Superdrug's health clinics.

The enhanced wellbeing benefits will apply to all Superdrug and Savers employees, and were chosen in order to support them through 2023 and manage during the cost-of-living crisis.

Amy Davies, people director at AS Watson Health and Beauty UK, said: “The health and happiness of our team members is so important to us, and we want to do all that we can to support and encourage a happy and healthy life for everyone at Superdrug and Savers.

"We appreciate our team members are individuals with differing needs and so we try to offer a wide range of benefits, to help everyone be the best versions of themselves. These progressive benefits are so important in rewarding the amazing contributions our colleagues make every day."
