Around 40 workers employed by PX at the Fellside Combined Heat and Power plant have accepted a pay offer, ending ongoing industrial action.
The employees undertake a range of roles, including shift managers, operators, electrical and instrumentation technicians and administrators at the plant, which provides electricity and steam to Sellafield in Cumbria.
They voted to accept pay rises between 6% and 7.5%, backdated from May. They had previously been offered deals of between 3% and 4.5%.
Trade union Unite secured the increase after staff took part in 15 days of industrial action from 1 August, as they were unhappy with the previous pay offers from their employer.
Sharon Graham, general secretary at Unite, said: “PX’s Fellside workers stood their ground and took industrial action to secure better pay. This deal is one more example of Unite’s relentless focus on improving jobs, pay and conditions delivering dividends for our members.”
Ryan Armstrong, regional officer at Unite, added: “This excellent result could not have been achieved without the hard work of our workplace reps. Unite will now be focusing on signing a recognition agreement with the organisation.”
PX was contacted for comment prior to publication. It offers its employees a range of benefits, including life assurance, personal accident cover, income protection, a pension scheme, enhanced holidays and family policies, agile working, an employee assistance programme, mental health support, health and wellbeing contributions, wellbeing and discount portals, and charitable donations through payroll.
