Around 200 workers employed by First Bus Aberdeen have accepted an enhanced two-year pay deal.

The workers, who are drivers, coach drivers and administrative staff, are represented by trade union Unite. Following successful negotiations, they overwhelmingly voted to accept an enhanced 7.2% pay offer from their employer, which will take effect over the next two years.

The deal includes an enhanced 5.2% offer backdated from August, along with a further 2% increase from August 2025 which will then run until the end of July 2026.

Passenger-carrying vehicle licence holders will receive a driver rate of £14 per hour after one year, while administrative staff will receive either a flat-rate increase of £1,007, or up to 5.2% in year one and a minimum 2.2% in year two, depending on whichever is the higher amount.

Sharon Graham, general secretary at Unite, said: “Unite has successfully negotiated a pay deal at First Bus Aberdeen for around 200 workers. It’s another example of Unite delivering better jobs, pay and conditions across the bus industry.”

Isabella Sutherland, industrial officer at Unite, added: “The deal over two years will produce a welcome pay boost for our members at First Bus Aberdeen. We are pleased the deal received the backing of our members. Unite is fully determined to ensure that we improve the rates of pay of bus workers across the North East.”
