Oscar Mayer 660

EXCLUSIVE: Oscar Mayer has revamped its healthcare benefits for more than 2,000 employees.

The food production organisation took the decision to introduce five new options as part of its 15-year benefits anniversary and a review of its My Millie benefits scheme.

The new benefits were added to its voluntary health cash plan, which is provided by Bupa.

From 19 June employees will have access to a new flu jab benefit, a new level of individual plan that gives maximum cover for healthcare and the organisation increased the age limit of dependents on the scheme from 21 up to 24.

To complement these new benefits Oscar Mayer also reintroduced its hospital benefit which was removed in 2012. It gives employees hospital stays (In-patient/day surgery) for a combined total of 10 days/nights per member.

It has also increased its onsite healthcare chiropody benefit, which helps employees with foot and lower limb problems, by 25%.

All benefits will be at no extra cost to the 1,600 members of its benefits scheme across the organisation’s three sites in Erith (Ferndale Foods), Wrexham (Rowan Foods) and Chard (Oscar Mayer).

It will carry out a series of special 15-year anniversary events along with benefits roadshows and competitions. It is also issuing a new benefits guide to drive up engagement.

In July 2014, the organisation also re-engaged employees in its health cash plan following 10 years with its provider Bupa.

And in October 2013, Oscar Mayer launched an online benefits portal, provided by Edenred, for employees to access all of their core and voluntary benefits in one place.

Ken Martin, group benefits manager at Oscar Mayer, said: “We have a strong focus of healthcare here at Oscar Mayer. Over the past 15 years we have continued to increase the benefits on offer and this year is no different.

“It is now more streamlined and focused on what the employee wants. There is something for everyone and these are benefits that people only buy into in the workplace.

“We help save people time and money and that is the nature of our business.”
