The University of Bolton is investing £100,000 to send all 700 employees on a staff development programme to help boost motivation and inform them of the organisation’s strategic aims.
The programme, which runs from September 2014 to May 2015, comprises approximately 20 group visits of an average 35 people per trip, the latest being to the Lake District in March.
The trips involve workshops, formal presentation sessions and team building exercises, and the organisation covers all staff travel, food and accommodation expenses.
It is part of a £25 million investment into the infrastructure and future of the university.
The programme is part of a plan by the HR department in cooperation with the vice chancellor in order to inform and engage staff.
A spokesperson from the University of Bolton said: “The university’s staff development programme sees the entire staff of the university participating in a 24-hour working residential focusing on the key strategic aims of the university.
“The vice chancellor attends and addresses staff, engaging directly in dialogue in respect of the strategy. ?
“The estimated total cost for these events which have been running from September 2014 and will continue to May 2015 is £100,000.
“The university considers this an appropriate developmental investment in staff to underpin the growing strength of the university.
“This investment in staff is concurrent with a multi-million pound investment in our teaching and learning infrastructure.”
