Istock Pizza Hut

Something for the weekend: What better way to recognise the hard work of employees than for an organisation to treat individuals to an all-expenses paid trip to an internationally-loved sporting event? That’s exactly what Pizza Hut did when Artie Starrs, president at the fast food chain, gave up his seats at the National Football League’s Super Bowl championship game to one lucky employee.

The motivation initiative featured a six-month competition, where employees with the best customer satisfaction scores hade the chance to win the coveted Super Bowl tickets. The food organisation also provided the airfare to Houston, as well as ground transportation, to ensure the winning employee had nothing to worry about except which team was in the lead.

Starrs picked the winning name from a glass bowl to reveal Vickie Weaver as the lucky winner. Weaver has been working for Pizza Hut in Huntsville, Alabama, for over 20 years, and currently oversees around 12 restaurants in the area.

While Weaver and her husband enjoyed the game live on Sunday 5 February 2017, Starrs took over responsibilities in Weaver’s branches to cover the workload, which included folding boxes and making and delivering pizzas.

Here at Employee Benefits, we think this is a fantastic way to reward staff; it could only be improved by including a free pizza too...
