The British Ministry of Defence is to introduce a childcare voucher scheme for its 240,000 regular personnel and reservists, whether they are working in the UK or are posted overseas.
The announcement comes just days after a leaked report highlighted declining morale among troops and the difficulties the military is facing in recruiting, motivating and retaining staff.
The scheme, which will be launched on 10 December and is provided by Sodexho, will be offered through a salary sacrifice arrangement.
The Ministry of Defence estimates that up to 20,000 staff could take up the vouchers.
