Insurance, retirement and investment services provider Canada Life has enhanced parental and family-friendly policies for employees located within the UK and Isle of Man.
From 1 January 2025, Canada Life staff will be eligible for 26 weeks of paid maternity leave or 16 weeks of paid paternity leave. This will also be extended to adoptive parents and parents of children born through surrogacy.
In addition, staff undergoing fertility treatment and their partners will be able to take an additional 10 days of paid leave a year. Additional support for those who have recently experienced pregnancy loss will be provided, offering paid time off to both parents during this time.
The enhanced parental and family-friendly policies will be available to Canada Life’s employees from the first day in their role. The aim of the enhancement is to reinforce the organisation’s commitment to supporting staff during key life moments.
Lindsey Rix-Broom, chief executive at Canada Life UK, said: “We care deeply about supporting our colleagues, not just at work but during the milestones and challenges they encounter throughout their lives. These enhancements reinforce our efforts to build a workplace that focuses on the needs of our people, and align with our wider ambition to ensure our colleagues flourish at Canada Life while balancing work and family life.
“Each individual will have a unique experience and journey, and we know that the interactions [they] have at work can be pivotal. We engaged closely with staff as part of this process to understand how Canada Life can support them, and these policies reflect our focus on prioritising the wellbeing of our people during the times when they need it most.”
Canada Life’s benefits package also includes private medical insurance, income protection, life insurance, spouse insurance, a performance-related bonus, a 24/7 online GP, mental health support, online financial wellbeing support, a share scheme, a bikes-for-work scheme, give-as-you-earn and charity support, season ticket loans, and discounts on local service providers.
