Deloitte Australia has received menopause-friendly accreditation due to its dedication to lasting organisational cultural change regarding the condition.

Established by Menopause Friendly Australia, the accreditation recognises organisations that commit to creating supportive, inclusive and accommodating environments for those experiencing the menopause, and provides a framework to develop and implement policies and practices that address diverse needs.

The process includes an independent evaluation of workplace initiatives across global standards, including personalised support measures acknowledging that it affects everyone differently, and appropriate uniforms, access to period products, and provisions for comfort, such as portable fans and cold drinking water.

Other areas that are evaluated include comprehensive training for managers and employees that offers the knowledge and tools needed to foster a supportive and empathetic work environment, breaking down stigma, flexible work arrangements, access to health resources, and leave entitlements.

The Menopause Friendly accreditation independent panel rated Deloitte Australia as outstanding. It was recognised due to its comprehensive policies and support systems, environment where employees feel safe to talk openly and seek help when needed, the upskilling of its workforce around people-first management practices, and its active challenging of menopause myths and stigma.

Pip Dexter, chief people and purpose officer at Deloitte Australia, said: “We know that menopause and its symptoms can disrupt the ability of our people to thrive in the workplace. And because it has largely been a taboo topic until recently, many women fear that disclosing their reproductive health issues may negatively impact their careers. As an employer, we have a responsibility to address these issues. Not only is it the right thing to do, it is a critical way to drive inclusion and equity.

“We are proud to lead the way in setting a new standard for menopause support; it reinforces our commitment to breaking gender norms and supporting the health and wellbeing of our people through all life stages.”
