Energy supplier Ovo is piloting a menopause-focused returner programme pilot at its Glasgow office.
The initiative, titled Revive and Thrive, was created by returner programme organisation The People Portfolio and supported by Henpicked: Menopause in the Workplace.
Working in partnership with menopause-friendly accredited employers, the aim is to support them to enhance their workplace diversity while ensuring those who want to re-enter the workplace are upskilled and prepared for a smooth return to work.
It will reassure returners that their employer is committed to supporting their return to the workplace and addressing challenges commonly faced during the menopause.
Ovo, which is a menopause-friendly accredited employer, will pilot the initiative before rolling it out to its other offices. Having completed training with the People Portfolio, it will now onboard 10 women from the Glasgow area to upskill and integrate them into the workforce.
Kirsteen Sommerville, menopause lead at Ovo, said: “We know about 50% of our people will experience menopause during their time at Ovo, and we want to ensure they feel supported throughout. This is why we are thrilled to be a part of the Revive and Thrive programme that prepares women for stepping back into work and getting back into their stride.”
