The workshops, which were delivered by wellness consultancy The Tonic, introduced staff to the concept of mindful living and its benefits with practical techniques including mindful meditation.

Employees explored how to manage mental and physical states with breathing techniques and various levels of meditation.

The programme aims to demonstrate how mindfulness can regenerate energy, and reduce stress and anxiety, as well as increase enjoyment of life and understand how to add creativity, quality and value to everything an individual does.

The provider of job board software and CV services offers a range of health and wellbeing benefits to its employees, including flexible-working opportunities, a bikes-for-work scheme, an employee assistance programme, discounted gym membership, weekly yoga sessions and discounted on-site Swedish massage.

It also launched a range of health, wellbeing and personal performance workshops for its staff in August 2014.

Hanna Smith, HR director at Madgex, said: “We already provide a range of other health and wellbeing activities for staff to participate in.

“This year, we decided to add mindfulness to our programme because of its many benefits. In today’s world, and certainly working in a technical organisation, things happen so fast you can often forget to take note of what’s going on around you or are busy thinking what’s the next thing to do.

“Living like this are not sustainable long-term, so educating employees about mindfulness can help everyone cope with the everyday work and family life.

“Our ethos has always been, look after the whole person, not just the work person, and mindfulness is an excellent tool to help [staff] appreciate that.”
