Today (Friday 23 June) marks one of my favourite events in the Employee Benefits calendar: the Employee Benefits Awards and Summer Party.

All year round, we cover some of the fantastic initiatives and strategies employers have put in place for their employees, so relish the chance to celebrate these in person. The awards are always a great opportunity for employers to showcase the creativity and innovation they have applied to their benefits and reward strategy in order to provide options that truly meet the needs of their workforce. Personally, I’m always fascinated to learn about the new ways in which employers are offering support for staff. Some truly do think outside the box.

This year, we introduced several new categories to recognise an even broader range of organisations, including a dedicated category for employers in the public sector. We have also reinstated our Rising Star category, which celebrates an individual who has worked in the industry for less than five years, but has already made an impact on their organisation’s business and reward strategies. It is these individuals who will be responsible for market-leading benefits strategies in years to come.

Of course, while the awards are the reason for us all to come together, I’m also looking forward to meeting, and catching up with, some of you there. In this era of hybrid and remote working, having the opportunity to come together and gather in person can sometimes feel like a bit of a novelty. There really is no substitute for in-person conversations.
