Beverage brand business Jacobs Douwe Egberts and satellite telecommunications firm Inmarsat are two of the organisations shortlisted in the Best pensions strategy category at the Employee Benefits Awards 2022.

This award celebrates organisations that have implemented an effective pensions strategy that helps employees to engage with their retirement savings.

The full category shortlist is:

  • BNP Paribas
  • Inmarsat
  • Jacobs Douwe Egberts
  • Saga
  • University of Lincoln

At the 2021 ceremony, the University of Lincoln won the Best DC pensions strategy award, which has since been renamed to Best pensions strategy. The judges were impressed with the innovative ideas that were implemented, and its brand and technology, which allowed an offering that energised and motivated employees.

The judges felt it maintained consistency in recognition from country to country when shifting from a defined benefit (DB) to a defined contribution (DC) scheme, showing innovation by adding financial wellbeing and an ISA scheme to the package.

Natasha McLaren, pensions manager at the University of Lincoln, said: “I’m ecstatic about winning, I wasn’t prepared for it all. We’ve put together such a good strategy this year in terms of our provision for DC, so we decided to enter. We’re really delighted to win the award.”

This year, the 20th annual Employee Benefits Awards ceremony will be at the Honourable Artillery Company, London on Friday 24 June, where reward, benefits and HR professionals will recognise and celebrate the work carried out by teams and organisations during 2021.

Guests can look forward to a champagne reception, three-course lunch and an after-party that is set to include live music, dodgems, a carousel and a big wheel in the venue’s private grounds.
