Something for the weekend: Nirvana, The Killers and AC/DC have been revealed as some of the artists that tradespeople listen to most while working, according to research by Toolbox by Admiral.
Insurance experts at the organisation scraped UK Spotify data to establish which music most often features in the playlists of tradespeople such as bricklayers, carpenters, gardeners and electricians.
Findings highlighted that out of all the playlists combined, Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana featured most often, closely followed by Mr Brightside by The Killers and AC/DC’s Back in Black.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, gardeners dig tunes about good weather, with Here Comes The Sun by The Beatles, Sunny Afternoon by The Kinks, Sunny by Bobby Hebb, and In The Summertime by Mungo Jerry all featuring in their Spotify playlists.
Meanwhile, UK builders love a bit of Red Hot Chili Peppers, as Toolbox found that Californication and Snow (Hey Oh), made it into their top 10 songs.
Landscapers are big country music fans, as Jon Pardi, Oliver Anthony, Blake Shelton, Morgan Wallen and Jason Aldean all make it into their top 10 songs, while electricians are buzzed by Guns N’ Roses, as Welcome to the Jungle, Sweet Child O’ Mine and Paradise City feature in their most listened to list.
Interestingly, six of carpenters’ top 10 songs are by AC/DC, Gun N’ Roses and The Rolling Stones, while another three are country musicians Luke Combs and Morgan Wallen.
A Toolbox by Admiral spokesperson said: “There’s a whole symphony of reasons tradespeople and other workers enjoy listening to tunes while they’re on the clock. Research shows that the limbic system, which is involved in processing emotions and memory, lights up when our ears perceive music. This makes music a fantastic stress-buster, but in the most basic sense, it can also help muffle out annoying background noise, allowing you to focus on the task at hand.”
This struck a chord with us at Employee Benefits, we can definitely see how listening to music in the workplace can boost wellbeing and productivity!
