Food manufacturer Nestle, technology firm Adobe and The Walt Disney Company are among those businesses recognised with the Best Employers excellence in health and wellbeing award.

US-based health and benefits authority Business Group on Health awarded the accolade to a total of 50 large employers, including American Express, Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan Chase.

Organisations based both in and outside of the US applied, but if they were not Business Group on Health members, organisations had to be within the Fortune 500, in the top 100 of Forbes America's largest private businesses, part of Forbes Global 2000 list, or have a workforce of at least 5,000 employees.

Employers were assessed on their commitment to advancing employee wellbeing through comprehensive and innovative benefits and initiatives.

They were also judged on their global approach to leadership, strategy and culture, holistic wellbeing, mental health, financial security, physical health, social connectedness, job satisfaction, engagement and employee experience, equitable benefits and social determinants of health, and metrics and evaluation.

Other businesses recognised on the list included AXA, Bank of America, Dell Technologies, EY, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Pepsico, PWC, and Boeing.

Ellen Kelsay, president and chief executive officer at Business Group on Health, said: “In the face of ongoing challenges, the award winners all enhance the lives of employees and their families through their innovative health and wellbeing programmes. In addition, their employee programmes address critical issues such as health equity, social determinants of health and affordability, with an eye toward better health and wellbeing outcomes for everyone.”

Mark Till, CEO of benefits provider Unum UK, which was also included on the Best Companies list, said: “As a leading employee benefits provider, Unum is a place where people aspire to work and we pride ourselves on the support we offer our employees to enable them to feel engaged and perform at their best. This award for excellence in health and wellbeing is testament to the value we put on our all our staff and recognises our investments across our global employee wellbeing strategy.”
