EXCLUSIVE: Health and technology business Hero has acquired mental health services organisation The Balanced You, in its third acquisition within the past 12 months.

The Balanced You, founded four years ago, provides a range of mental health and wellbeing services, including specialist one-to-one counselling, mindfulness sessions, wellbeing retreats, reiki and hypnotherapy.

Hero has acquired The Balanced You in order to complement the health and wellbeing services it already already provides to more than 100 clients.

The acquisition will enable Hero to develop The Balanced You’s existing offering, using technology to further broaden its mental health services and in-person support.

Joe Gaunt (pictured), chief executive officer at Hero, said: “Health means much more than having five [fruit or vegetables] a day and exercising for 150 minutes a week. Emotional and mental wellbeing is a critical part of overall health.

“We have been aware of the great work done by The Balanced You for some time and respect the way the business has captured the market and successfully positioned itself. Mental and psychological wellbeing is a cornerstone of Hero’s overall health proposition, so this is a significant acquisition to bolster our offer and our team of experienced, qualified and passionate specialists.

“We are on a mission to help, support and educate people at every stage of their life to navigate their personal wellbeing journey, and The Balanced You is a great fit for this. We believe we can offer a unique, agile and responsive service which can transform the corporate wellbeing landscape and enable individuals and organisations to realise their goals.”

Ashleigh Turner, founder of The Balanced You, who will join Hero, added: “This is such an exciting time. This acquisition will enable the business to achieve our ambitions and scale our offer, under the Hero brand. The success Hero has achieved over the past 12 months has been remarkable and I am looking forward to working with Joe and the wider team and its clients.”
