Deliveroo

Online food delivery service Deliveroo has introduced free access to 24/7 virtual GP consultations for its UK riders.

The service, which it operates in in partnership with insurance firm Chubb and healthcare provider Teladoc Health, enables Deliveroo riders to speak to a UK-registered GP 24/7 through phone or video completely free of charge at a convenient time for them.

This will help to ensure riders always have access to medical advice to support their health and wellbeing.

The introduction of the service builds on the benefits Deliveroo offers its self-employed riders and its ongoing commitment to support their growth, welfare and development.

Camilla Kater, senior vice president of care and rider at Deliveroo, said: “We are proud to lead the way in providing innovative benefits that truly support our riders’ needs. By ensuring our riders can access medical advice from a GP 24/7, we’re reinforcing our commitment to rider welfare and setting a new standard for the industry.”

The virtual GP service sits alongside a wider package, which includes a free, flexible childcare benefit for working parents that was launched last March, provided by childcare booking app Bubble, as well as a package of 1,500 online educational courses to support the learning and development of riders and their families.

Riders can also access a wide range of benefits, including free comprehensive insurance, sick pay, financial support when they become new parents, and a comprehensive training programme.

Its office-based employees can access parental leave, bonus policy for those eligible, a pension, as well as medical and dental insurance, depending on location.
