Racecourse and hospitality organisation Chester Race Company is working in partnership with British horse-racing workforce welfare charity Racing Welfare to create a wellbeing programme for its 200 employees in 2020.
Following feedback from an employee engagement survey conducted in December 2019, Chester Race Company aims to further enhance its benefits through a number of events throughout the next year. This includes breakfast mornings, yoga sessions, Friday socials, summer BBQ’s, team games, cookery classes, and more. The first event will be a breakfast morning held at the end of February 2020.
The programme was announced to staff on Friday 24 January at the organisation's annual employee conference, where employees were also recognised for their efforts in 2019.
The programme will be underpinned with industry initiatives from Racing Welfare. The charity will provide support for those employees facing difficulties in physical and mental health, bereavement, housing and homelessness, money advice, benefits advice, illness, addiction, relationships, and retirements.
Pebble O'Donnell, people operations manager at Chester Race Company, said: “[The conference was] a fantastic opportunity for the entire Chester Race Company team to get together and celebrate the achievements of friends and colleagues. We also used the opportunity to launch our new social and wellbeing programme, which we hope will enrich our employees and further develop the community of colleagues that make up the Chester Race Company workforce.”
