Insurance firm Allianz UK has introduced a new domestic abuse policy as part of its commitment to recognise and respond to domestic abuse challenges experienced by employees.

The launch coincides with the international campaign Activism against Gender-Based Violence (25 November to 10 December 2025), which calls for protection for families and raises awareness of domestic abuse.

In order to support its employees in this area, Allianz has committed to introduce a team of staff who will be mental health first aid trained and domestic abuse trauma response trained. It will also implement a domestic abuse internal hub with resources and a comprehensive guide with dedicated sections for managers and employees. The aim of this is to provide a consistent approach to handling domestic abuse cases.

Matt Cox, chief claims officer at Allianz UK, said: “There’s no such thing as a typical domestic abuse case and every situation is unique to the individual. We want to help and support our employees as much as we can during the times that really matter, whatever the situation.

“That’s why we’re proud to introduce our new domestic abuse policy in Allianz UK, designed to address the critical issues surrounding domestic abuse, which can significantly impact an employees’ safety and mental wellbeing. We’ve produced a range of support that provides dedicated information in different ways, so that our people know they can talk to someone or find information from internal and external resources and Allianz policies.”

Susan Bright, chief executive officer of Employers’ Initiative on Domestic Abuse (EIDA), added: “We are delighted to see EIDA member Allianz launch its workplace response to domestic abuse for this year’s 16 days of activism campaign. The commitment from employers to support their employees and inspire others to do the same will help us to achieve our vision of every UK employer taking effective action on domestic abuse.”
