Charity Age UK and housing business Barratt Developments have been shortlisted in the category Best benefits to support menopause at the Employee Benefits Awards 2024.
This award was created to celebrate a benefits offering that supports staff with their menopause journey, such as a new range of supportive initiatives, training and employee workshops, a revised healthcare benefits provision that addresses the menopause-related needs of staff, or access to external providers and specialists.
The full category shortlist is:
- Age UK
- Barratt Developments
- Superdrug
Gi Group won the Best benefits to support menopause award last year due to its raft of benefits that encompass diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI), and its particular focus of supporting employees experiencing menopause or perimenopause as part of its culture and reward strategy.
It introduced a menopause policy, paid hormone replacement therapy and an informal flexible-working policy, which enabled employees to alter their working hours as and when needed to help manage the symptoms of menopause and perimenopause. In addition, it provided DEI training for all employees and introduced a series of workshops on topics led by senior management.
The judges were impressed with the level of engagement the organisation received, and said: “This was a really good, well-rounded approach. A key differentiator is the fact it is looking to tweak the programme in the future.”
The 22nd annual Employee Benefits Awards will be held at the Honourable Artillery Company, London on Friday 14 June. It will include a drinks reception, three-course meal, entertainment and the chance to network with industry professionals. The after-party will feature live music, dodgems, a carousel and a big wheel in the venue’s private grounds.
