Allianz Global Corporate and Specialty (AGCS), the corporate insurance carrier of Allianz Group, has appointed Phil Curtis as its new global head of human resources, effective 1 April.
Succeeding Dr Melanie Gillig, who moves to Allianz to take on a programme lead future work role, Curtis joins AGCS from his current role as head of HR and change at Allianz, where he managed HR for 2,000 people working in Allianz Group’s headquarter unit.
His previous HR management roles at Allianz include being head of global HR operations at Allianz Global Investors. Before this, he held a variety of HR management positions in global financial services firms including UniCredit and UBS.
According to AGCS, which employs 4,400 staff of 83 nationalities across 31 countries, Curtis will drive various initiatives, including focusing on attracting, developing and retaining talent to support AGCS´ growth strategy as well as further driving its cultural transformation journey.
This includes promoting an agile working environment and embracing wellbeing, diversity and inclusion to make the organisation an employer of choice for current and future staff.
Together with his team of globally based HR professionals, Curtis will also continue to work on simplifying HR processes and driving data quality to allow for the strategic steering of people management topics.
Chief operating officer and AGCS board member Bettina Dietsche said: “I am very pleased to welcome Phil to AGCS and to have him on board. His global business experience and HR expertise is a great addition to our team, and I look forward to working together with him to enable our further growth and to drive talent attraction and development.”
