Food manufacturer Kellogg's UK has launched a flexible summer hours scheme for its 460 employees.

Now in its 17th year, the benefit has been adapted to take into consideration that employees may appreciate additional flexibility during the Covid-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic.

From 17 May 2020, the organisation is allowing employees to finish work at 12pm on a day of their choice, as long as they work their contracted hours each week. In previous years, Kellogg's office-based employees were permitted to finish work at 12pm on a Friday.

The scheme, which runs annually from May to September, has now been extended to include its 60 field sales employees.

Kellogg's believes that the enhanced benefit gives employees the flexibility to have some time away from their desks, support family members and improve their wellbeing.

Sam Thomas-Berry, vice president of human resources at Kellogg's Europe, said: “At Kellogg’s, we have a long history of offering flexible working and in recent weeks it has become more of a priority than ever. We understand that everyone has different needs and pressures at this time and we are doing all we can to offer flexible benefits to suit everyone.

"We acknowledge that finding the right work-life balance when working from home every day can be challenging, so we encourage all of our UK office-based and field sales employees to make the most of the new summer hours scheme.’’
