Crawford and Company, a global provider of claims management and outsourcing solutions to insurance firms, has launched a new working abroad policy for its employees in the UK and Northern Ireland.
Under the initiative, Crawford employees will be able to carry out their work commitments in a safe and secure working environment in another country for up to 10 days each financial year.
The policy also provides detailed guidance to support staff who want to work outside of the UK and Ireland on a short-term basis. It sets up a structure for managing the details and all parts of the process, to ensure that those participating in the programme maintain high standards of customer service while abroad.
It is part of Crawford’s wider Smarter Working programme, which launched in 2021 in the UK and Ireland. The aim was to provide employees with more flexibility to manage the day-to-day requirements of their roles.
Andrew Bart, president, UK and Ireland and chief executive officer, international operations at Crawford and Company, said: “At Crawford, we are always thinking differently about how work gets done in an increasingly digitised world, while still meeting the needs of our stakeholders, retaining our collaborative culture, and providing excellent service.
“Through our working abroad policy, we want our employees to be able to take advantage of the opportunity to travel to a different country while still fulfilling their day-to-day tasks from there. This introduces yet another level of flexibility into our Smarter Working programme which we see as key to creating the best possible working environment for talent.”
Back in April, Crawford and Company launched a carers’ policy and support framework for its UK employees. They will be eligible for a week of paid carers’ leave annually, which they can take an hour at a time and in larger blocks, to give them flexibility in balancing their caring and work responsibilities.
