The Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals (CIPP) is to take part in a pilot of the real-time information (RTI) programme from July 2012.†

Ten volunteer employers, including HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) started the pilot programme in April.

RTI is intended to make it easier for employers, providers and HMRC to administer the pay-as-you-earn (PAYE) system. Most employers will be using the programme by April 2013 and all employers will be using it by October 2013.

Shirley Harris, finance team leader at the CIPP, said: “We are really excited to have been accepted into the RTI pilot.

“This opportunity will allow us to iron out all the creases and allow us to make sure things are perfect before RTI is enforced.

“I and my CIPP colleagues look forward to July so we can understand more about how RTI will work in practice.”
