Family court advisory and support service Cafcass has introduced a new employer-paid health plan.

The scheme, which is provided by Medicash, offers employees access to a range of benefits including physiotherapy, dental and optical treatments, flu jabs and specialist services such as health screening, specialist consultations and diagnostic testing.

So far, 98% of Cafcass’ 1,775 employees are covered under the plan. Those who are not eligible for the plan, or have opted out of the scheme will be covered by an employee assistance programme (EAP), which includes 24/7 free telephone counselling, day-one stress intervention and up to six sessions of face-to-face counselling including cognitive behavioural therapy.

Jabbar Sardar, director of human resources and organisational development at Cafcass (pictured), said: “Health, wellbeing and staff engagement are key priorities for Cafcass and we are delighted that our staff will benefit from this health and wellbeing plan.

“Sickness within the organisation has halved over the past three years, and the new plan will support the wellbeing of our staff as they discharge a very challenging role in working with over 145,000 children each year.”
