Benefits technology has developed in leaps and bounds in recent years, and what was once a yearly paper-pushing exercise is now an exciting chance to engage with employees more frequently.
At Aspen, we have been careful to craft a benefits package that is not only suitable for the business and our employee demographic, but that is easily accessible and engaging, too. The Aspen Benefits website means that we can easily keep evolving the benefits we offer, as well as refreshing the benefits ‘brand’ and improving the user experience.
Employees can choose their benefits on the site and find out more information; they do not have to wait for a specific time of year, as we offer ‘anytime benefits’ where employees can choose and amend their voluntary benefits whenever they want to. Feedback has shown that employees understand their benefits better, and enjoy the 24/7 online access the site brings. It is becoming more of a daily resource, rather than something to use just once a year.
This year, we also restructured some of the benefits to align them more closely with the market, and brought in new ‘flex pots’ to help ensure the benefits provided are affordable and competitive. Using technology, we have split these pots into different benefits categories, Health Hub and Money Hub. With the support of a clear and simple communications campaign, including posters, table talkers, emails and a new video, people are understanding how to make the most of the flex pots to shape their own benefits package to suit them. It is really flexible and we have had great feedback so far. The video is also being used as a recruitment tool, and is delivered to new joiners to engage as many people as early as possible.
We are proud of the benefits we have been able to put in place, and the technology that has made it possible for us to do so. It is vital that the message comes through from us, even at the recruitment phase, to increase employee engagement and maximise the value from the benefits spend we put in. With the constant innovation and development in benefits technology, I am excited to see what we can do next!
