46% of HR teams gather data about reward inequalities

rewardResearch from HR solutions firm XpertHR has revealed that 46% of HR teams captured data about reward inequalities and 53% gather metrics on their diversity and equality.

For its HR Roles and Responsibilities 2022 survey, XpertHR canvassed HR professionals at 242 UK organisations, with a combined workforce of 154,517 employees. Two-thirds (67%) said that their HR department does not currently gather enough meaningful data to measure HR performance within their business.

Absence management data (87%), staff turnover data (85%), exit interview feedback (84%) and results of staff surveys (80%), were the most commonly captured measurements by HR teams.

On average, HR departments were found to spend just 4% of their time collecting and analysing data, and 20% of their time on administration. Only 7% of overall time was spent on their response to the Covid-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic, although this has decreased from an average of 14%. Meanwhile, 60% said they do not currently benchmark their HR data against that of other organisations.

Noelle Murphy, senior HR practice editor at XpertHR, explained that collecting information and benchmarking it against other organisations is vital in creating a better overall employee experience.

She commented that at a time when there is more pressure than ever to build better and more attractive propositions for employees, more businesses need to be collecting and leveraging these insights.

Murphy added: “There is a huge opportunity for HR to harness data around the employee experience that feeds directly into the recruitment and retention process, such as time and cost to hire and time to competence, to ensure the challenge of the great resignation can be met head on and employers can position themselves as employers of choice.

“Understanding how your business ranks against competitors through data, amidst this period of intense disruption, will not only help retain staff, but also map out the future direction of your organisation.”
