Capital One has been named the UK’s best large employer in the Great Place to Work Institute’s ‘UK’s Best Workplaces 2014’ awards.
It is the second year running that the credit card organisation has won the award, which is based on an assessment of organisations’ workplace culture, employee engagement and management practices.
Capital One was commended for its corporate social media internal platform, Pulse, which is used by 94% of employees.
The organisation took top spot in the large organisation (500 or more employees) category, while One Vision Housing was the winner in the medium-sized organisation (50-499 employees) category, and DMW Group topped the small organisation (20-49 employees) category.
Chris Newkirk, managing director of Capital One, said: “We could not be happier to win this award for the second year running. It is a testament to our employees, who are dedicated to helping grow the business and supporting our vision.”
Tom O’Byrne, chief executive officer of Great Place to Work UK, added: “Capital One’s commitment to trust, engagement and best practice in the workplace shone through again this year, and the organisation is a well-deserved two-time winner.
“Its corporate vision is clearly translated through an extensive and coordinated programme that connects all its employees to the business. It has worked hard to stay ahead of the game across many areas of the business and have set the bar very high.”
