Something for the weekend: Employees looking to swap dreary British weather for a nine-to-five that incorporates more sun, sea and sand should check out the latest recruitment drive from international investment group Virgin, which is looking for a new personal assistant to work on Necker Island, a private island in the British Virgin Islands in the Caribbean.
Although applicants may well be rubbing their hands together at the glamourous location of the role, the job posting on LinkedIn warns that the assistant will be kept on their toes performing administrative duties across two busy offices. This will include working with Necker Island’s general manager as well as completing administrative tasks for Virgin founder Richard Branson’s office. Key duties candidates will be required to undertake include diary and email management, general correspondence, filing and archiving, booking travel and providing cover for Branson’s personal assistant.
The advert also states that personality is just as important as skills and experience. It reads: “We are, of course, looking for someone with fantastic admin and organisational skills as well as practical experience in a busy office. But your personality is just as important. As well as being a top-notch administrator, we’re also looking for someone who is self-motivated, outgoing and enthusiastic who can balance this with the essential need for discretion and confidentiality. Does this sound like you?”
Admin hotshots who wish to apply for the role need to submit both their CV and a two-minute video explaining why they want the job, interesting facts about themselves and highlighting any unique skills and experience that would make them the ideal candidate to be Necker Island’s newest resident.
Here at Employee Benefits, we love the idea of working on our very own private island. We imagine the peacefulness of our very own beach would certainly counterbalance the stress of editorial deadlines…
