Dafydd Hardy Estate Agents has introduced an employee ownership trust (EOT) structure.
By transitioning to an employee-owned model, the agency wants to ensure that employees have a say in the future of the organisation, and that they are invested in providing a high level of service.
Founder Dafydd Hardy and director Richard Thomas will remain in the business. The new structure will not change the organisation’s approach to work, or its workplace culture, which is rooted in collaboration, motivation, and shared goals.
The decision to transition to an EOT was part of Dafydd Hardy Estate Agents’ belief that its people are the backbone of its success. It believes the model aligns with its values and will help it create a sustainable and community-focused agency.
Cwmpas, BIC Innovation and Geldard’s supported the agency throughout the transition.
Hardy said: “Creating an EOT was about securing a bright future for the agency, our staff, and the communities we love. We wanted our team, who have been so integral to our growth, to feel rewarded and empowered. This trust allows us to focus on what matters: delivering quality service and supporting our local communities.”
Thomas added: “I am proud that Dafydd Hardy Estate Agents is becoming an EOT and will remain an independent trusted organisation in the property sector. It will provide opportunities for current and future staff as it grows and develops further.”
Mike Williams, specialist employee ownership consultant at Cwmpas, said: “It was a privilege to work with the owners and staff at Dafydd Hardy on their transition into employee ownership. The EOT model helps to preserve its future in the hands of their best asset, their employees. Dafydd Hardy joins the growing number of employee ownership businesses in Gwynedd, which is the first employee ownership county in Wales, supported by Gwynedd Council and [its] SPF funding”.
