Post Office adds new voluntary benefits to reward platform

Post Office voluntary benefitsPost Office has introduced new voluntary benefits to its reward, benefits and recognition platform following feedback from its employees.

The organisation announced the additions at the end of May at its weekly stand-up called 10 @ 10, led by chief executive officer Nick Read.

The new benefits include private medical insurance provided by Bupa, critical illness cover, dental insurance, a health cash plan, increased life assurance and a Tastecard. Employees are required to choose what they would like to take up by 26 June, with the benefits set to go live on 1 July.

The Post Office introduced its Wow! platform, which is hosted by Reward Gateway, in September 2023. It is available to all of its employees, including those in administrative and supply chain roles, as well as at its directly managed branches, aiming to improve its overall employee value proposition and culture.

Since its launch, nearly all of the organisation’s employees have used the platform and saved thousands of pounds through the retail discounts available. It pledged to continue to develop the platform and decided to introduce the new benefits after many of its employees expressed a desire for private medical insurance and dental insurance.

Karen McEwan, group chief people officer at the Post Office, said: “Since launching our Wow! platform last year, we’ve had fantastic feedback and regular usage from hundreds of employees, whether it’s sending an e-card recognising a co-worker’s long-service at the Post Office to taking up discounts on food, travel, fashion or electronics.

“We always said when we launched that we would add further benefits over time, which is why we’re so pleased to be offering our colleagues the opportunity to take up a host of voluntary benefits. To help our colleagues choose what may best suit their needs, we’re holding events at our two main office locations, as well as lunch and learn webinars. We will continue to develop our Wow! platform and add further benefits in due course.”
