Pitchup, an online booking site for UK and Europe outdoor holidays, has introduced a tax-free bikes-for-work scheme for its employees.
Provided by Gogeta, the new cycling platform will allow Pitchup’s more than 50 employees to apply for and buy bicycles such as road bikes, cargo and e-bikes, as well as cycling equipment, from UK independent bike shops through an online marketplace at a discount.
The scheme allows staff to apply for a flexi-voucher which can be used to buy a bike or cycling equipment from different retailers over the course of a year, without having to purchase everything at once.
According to Pitch Up, this will cut down on administrative time and offer better savings for its employees that include end of term surcharges.
Daniel Yates, managing director at Pitchup, said: “As a business that is committed to supporting local communities through low impact, sustainable travel, it makes sense for us to offer the [bikes-for-work] benefit so employees can reduce their own carbon footprints.”
Bikes-for-work schemes are tax-exempt arrangements, usually offered via a salary sacrifice scheme that will deducts payments from an employee's gross pay.
Pitchup also offers its employees benefits such as 25 days of holiday including bank holidays, a pension scheme, private healthcare, life insurance, critical illness cover, income protection, discounted gym memberships and sports equipment, and discounts at retailers, hotels and shops. It also provides an employee assistance programme, enhanced maternity and paternity leave, employer away days and a work-from-home office equipment allowance.
