Virgin Media O2 pay gap

Media and telecommunications organisation Virgin Media O2 has reported a 9.7% mean ethnicity hourly pay gap for 2023.

The organisation’s 2023 median ethnicity hourly pay gap was 13.3%. Meanwhile, its mean ethnicity bonus gap was 41.3%, equivalent to a £3,315 gap, and its median gap was 39.4%, equivalent to a £1,439 gap. A total of 85.5% of white employees received a bonus, whereas 86.9% of employees from what the organisation calls a global majority background received a bonus that year.

Virgin Media O2’s 2023 mean gender hourly pay gap was 1.9% and its median gap was 2.3%. A total of 31% of its full-time employees are female and 69% are male.

Its mean gender bonus gap was 12.5%, equivalent to a £973 gap, and its median gap was 11.9%, equivalent to a £387 gap. A total of 77.6% of men and 72.2% of women received a bonus that year.

“Since our merger, we've been dedicated to fostering a culture of [diversity, equity and inclusion] DEI. In March 2022, we launched our five-year DEI strategy with ambitious goals to reflect the communities we serve. These goals include improving representation across gender and ethnicity by the end of 2027. So while this shows some progress, it also tells us there is still much for us to do by the time this report comes around again in 12 months’ time and into the future. We believe everyone deserves to feel valued, respected and empowered to enable them to thrive.”
