British retailer Marks and Spencer will give front-line employees a 15% bonus to reward them for their hard work during the Covid-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic.
Front-line employees who have caring commitments or who are feeling more vulnerable are able to step away from their role at this time and will be able to do so on full pay.
Alongside this, any employees who need to self-isolate for seven to 14 days can continue to do so on full pay. Employees who are pregnant, 70-years-old or above, or with health conditions specified by the Department of Health, are already on paid leave for 12 weeks.
In addition, the organisation will also distribute plastic face shields to all of its frontline employees and install plastic sneeze guards at all checkouts.
Marks and Spencer joins a number of retailers in offering their employees special benefits throughout the Coronavirus outbreak.
A spokesperson at Marks and Spencer said: "We’re supporting all colleagues who need to self-isolate, on full pay. And for those who may find their families facing temporary hardship, we have set up a colleague fund to give them extra help."
