ICTS hold baggage screeners based at Glasgow Airport have accepted a 7% pay rise following negotiations between their employer and union.
The ICTS staff are security agents who perform tasks such as x-ray screening of hold baggage, document checks and the upkeep of the baggage system.
Around 50 ICTS workers, who are represented by trade union Unite, are covered by the deal. It is backdated to October and will see their basic pay rise by 7%, alongside overtime rates being increased to time and half.
This follows a 9.8% increase the baggage screeners received from their employer last year, which was backdated to October 2024.
Sharon Graham, general secretary at Unite, said: “Unite has delivered the latest excellent new wage deal for ICTS workers at Glasgow Airport. Years of hard work by the members has gone into not only restoring jobs, pay and conditions but improving them. The ICTS deal continues to show that Unite delivers for workers across the aviation industry.”
Pat McIlvogue, industrial officer at Unite, added: “In recent years, Unite has significantly increased the hourly pay and allowances of ICTS workers at Glasgow Airport.”
ICTS was contacted for comment prior to publication.
As part of its ‘Runway To Success’ campaign launched in May 2024 to help the aviation industry following the Covid-19 pandemic, Unite has aimed to establish standards beyond the legal minimums across Scottish airports, and to restore jobs, pay and conditions removed during the pandemic, such as sick pay, holidays, and shift premiums.
