Something for the weekend: Wine merchant House of Townend has just the job for those looking to add a little sparkle to their work life.
The Yorkshire-based company is on the hunt for a prosecco taster. Yes, it is a tough job and, yes, someone will have to do it – so why not you?
To stand a chance of landing this position applicants must have endurance, commitment and an exquisite palate. The successful candidate will be expected to give feedback on up to six different bottles within two weeks.
House of Townend is seeking someone highly motivated with a genuine deep passion and love for wine (start queueing here), who has a vivid imagination that can “transport them to the romance of Italy as they flow with the flavour” and is well versed in the language and art of tasting.
Once hired, the lucky taster will work directly with the innovation and customer service team, as well as overseeing the new product selection for sparkling wine and making incremental improvements on existing products.
Duties will include sampling a range of the company’s finest prosecco and sparkling wine, reporting on primary, secondary, and tertiary aromas, rating taste, texture, and length, and suggesting key areas for improvement to the Innovation team. It goes without saying that those who experience wine headaches need not apply.
So what are the benefits, I hear you ask, apart from having to drink excessive amounts of prosecco? Well the good news is it is offering highly competitive rates, reflective of the candidates wine tasting experience. The bad news is the contract is only for one month.
Here at Employee Benefits, we think support bubbles are a very important benefit and believe fizz the season to be merry all year round - so we raise a toast to the successful candidate and wish them a merry month of tasting.
