Something for the weekend: Fitness brand GymBird has taken its first step to find a chief step officer to walk 10,000 steps in a single day, report on their experience and receive a $10,000 (£7,856) payment in return.
The ideal candidate will be looking to put their best foot forward in their exercise routine and be willing to commit to walking every day for a month. No prior fitness knowledge or experience is necessary, but applicants will need to be at least 18 years of age.
The ultimate goal of the chief step officer is to gradually work their way from zero to 10,000 steps each day over the course of one month. By the last day of the month, they must walk the full 10,000 steps within a 24-hour period, whether that is by hiking, using a treadmill, climbing stairs or exploring a neighborhood. Sounds like a real mountain to climb, which could also be another way of reaching the 10,000 steps goal.
Other requirements include creating a two-minute weekly video recap of how it is going, a written paragraph at the end of every week describing activities, challenges, success, and overall feelings, and one social media post each week throughout the month to encourage and empower others.
At the end of the month, they will have a virtual 20-minute debrief with GymBird's co-founder and chief content officer to talk about their experience and a full report will be shared on the GymBird website. The lucky applicant will also receive a smartwatch to track their progress throughout the month.
A GymBird spokesperson said: “At GymBird, we're passionate about helping people take the next step in their fitness journey, whether it's your first time creating a fitness plan or you're already a fitness pro. Walking is one of our favorite ways to incorporate healthy, sustainable habits into your everyday life. You don't need equipment or special training, and it's a low-impact exercise.”
This sounds like a great opportunity for those looking to put a little pep in their step to us here at Employee Benefits. Hope you’ve got your walking boots ready!
