Network Rail has introduced an eyecare scheme for its 35,000 employees.

The employer is providing Premium Club vouchers, provided by Specsavers Corporate Eyecare, which offer discounts on glasses for staff and two members of their family.

This is alongside eye examinations and glasses for employees to meet the legal obligations of health and safety regulations. Any employee using a visual display unit (VDU) can request an employer-funded eye and eyesight test.

The contract with Specsavers Corporate Eyecare is set to run for three years.

Laura Butler, key accounts manager for Specsavers Corporate Eyecare, said: “We have been working closely with the health and safety team at Network Rail.

“It is a forward-thinking organisation, which recognises not only that VDU eyecare is required to meet with regulations, but also that there are much wider benefits to eyecare, such as detecting and monitoring serious health conditions and illnesses.”
