Paralympic gold medalist, BBC commentator and author Marc Woods (pictured) is to conclude the two-day conference programme at Employee Benefits Live 2018 with the closing keynote address on Wednesday 3 October 2018.
Woods’ session, titled ‘Unleashing your inner HR superstar’, will share insights from his personal journey and reveal the story behind his winning 12 Paralympic medals. Woods will discuss self-reflection as a leader, what success looks like and how employers can create an environment where staff understand that they have a role to play in achieving the agreed goals of success.
Woods, who had his left leg amputated at 17-years-old due to cancer, competed internationally as a swimmer for 17 years. During his career, he won 12 Paralympic medals across five Games and also earned a further 21 accolades from either World or European Championships. He set world records in the 200m, 400m and 1500m freestyle events and was part of the team that held the world record for the 4x100m freestyle race.
During London’s 2012 Paralympic Games, Woods worked as a commentator and presenter for the BBC, and also performed in the opening ceremony.
Since retiring from the world of professional sport, Woods uses his insights into personal responsibility, leadership, teamwork and motivation to inform business audiences. He has also written three books, covering topics such as personal development and discretionary effort.
Employee Benefits Live 2018 will take place on Tuesday 2 and Wednesday 3 October 2018 at ExCeL London.
